Hi, I'm Catherine!
Hey there, I’m Catherine Roots, and live in Whitehouse with my husband, Don, who’s a proud fifth-generation Texan and our three kids. We love Smith County and are doing our best to serve the community. My faith and family keep me grounded, and as a former self employed business owner, I know the value of hard work. I’m proud to call Smith County home and stay true to the values that make this place special.
I got involved in local leadership because I believe in the power of good governance. As President of the Smith County Republican Women, a delegate to multiple Republican Party of Texas Conventions, and a grassroots volunteer, I've worked to uphold conservative principles like limited government, personal freedom, and fiscal responsibility. My goal is to make sure that your voice is heard and bring more transperancy to our county government, focusing on smart budgeting that supports essential services without wasteful spending or tax hikes.
Where I Stand
Championing Open and Accessible Leadership
I believe leadership means staying connected and transparent with you. If elected as your Commissioner, I'll keep you in the loop with regular town halls, newsletters, and an open-door policy. I'm all in for making the Commissioners Court more transparent and approachable, so you know exactly how decisions are made and have a real chance to be part of the process.
Cutting Waste with Smart Budgeting
Managing the county budget is about making practical choices that use our resources wisely. As your Commissioner, I'll focus on funding essential services while avoiding unnecessary expenses. You deserve to know how your tax dollars are spent, and I'll push for transperancy, accountability, and good stewardship in every budget decision.
Keeping Taxes as Low as Possible
I'm committed to keeping Smith County affordable for families, homeowners, and small businesses. That means working hard to avoid tax increases that could strain your budget further or limit opportunities. My priority is funding essential services while ensuring life here remains affordable for everyone who calls Smith County home.
